 PFOOTBALL FRENZYP
Heart. Strength. Focus. Teamwork. Respect. These are only a few of the characteristics necessary to be a thriving athlete. Heroes of this depiction? The Manu Samoa. Although they weren’t as victorious as we would have wanted them to be in the Rugby World Cup this year, their hard work and image off the field surely demonstrated what it takes to be a valued and admired competitor.

The Manu Samoa left their distinctive mark in the RWC and our very own big-timers are doing the same. Maroon & White and Blue & Gold are stamping the gridiron with persistence, vigilance, and defying aggression. We have and are following TJ Uta’i for Junior Varsity Football (Governors), Farrington High and Numa Viliamu for Varsity Football (Marauders), Waipahu High as they strike fear in their local Hawai’i opponents. The JV Governors have chased the trophy all the way to the finals, an expedition lasting 9 excruciating games now resulting in a last fight-to-the-finish drop happening today.

It’s an all out war for the champ title as TJ and his teammates try to exercise some governor authority over the Waianae Seariders. This championship game is stocking up and we’re dressing to the 10s in our supportive gear for our boys. Our football frenzy is coming to a successful end. Like the Manu, we know our boys are top-notch participants. Keep on playing the way you are – with heart, strength, focus, and respect. We want to wish the Govs the best of luck and to both our football superstars Numa and TJ and The Manu Samoa a job very well done!

     keep our momentum going...
Last month, family members in the 808 state held a barbeque fundraiser to jump start our collective efforts in reaching our goal – Mama’s 80th in Apia. We’ve already drafted out our expenses, incomes and extras. We’re regulating our finances on a constant basis and doing the necessary cuts to survive. We’re sacrificing watching the latest movie, eating out with friends, drinking water, even taking unnecessary trips somewhere nearby so we can save on gas. We’re doing the most. And saving for a trip 5 months from now is a little hard to do on top of all of that. Needless to say, we need all the help we can get.

With the recession in the American economy devastating the airline industry as it is, the price tag on taking to the friendly skies has become one we hardly can afford. But there is always a light and one of the more beautiful things about this family is the willingness to not only have hope and drive but the diligence to maintain it! Even on the gloomy days, we embrace the optimism. Divide and conquer! We can do this together no matter how far apart we are! Here are some researched tips on how we can individually further our cause.

1) Thirty-day Rule – if you find that you “need” more and more purchases everyday – write it down and after thirty days, ask yourself if you still need those items.

2) Apply the Pareto Theory – we use 20% of the stuff we have 80% of the time. Save a bunch by weeding out what we don’t need or use!

3) Maintain your urge to spend by keeping CLOSE tabs on your spending. The realization that you’ve gone overboard is an eager eye-opener.
4) Try this – put $12 away per weekday. You’ll have $1400 by April. Remember - you’re never too broke to save money!

““halloween SWEEts““
This Halloween there were more treats than tricks! Fun and festivities filled the foggy and eerie nights! Here’s some spooktabulous evidence:
