2012 JANUARY NEW YEAR FAMILY e-NEWSLETTER

Instead of making a New Year's resolution
Consider committing to a biblical solution
Your promises are easily broken
Empty words, though earnestly spoken
But God's Word transforms the soul
By His Holy Spirit making you whole
As you spend time alone with Him
He will change you from within.
-- Mary Fairchild

Starting off a new year is always exciting! It’s like driving down a long winding road with no end in sight! Making New Year’s resolutions and setting goals is a great way to start of a new year…and we can honor God at the same time! God’s word offers some great guidance and insights for how to get started. 2012 IS A NEW YEAR
FOR A FRESH AND CLEAN START!
Trisha's son Elcid and Brina's Twins and daughter Charmayne in New Zealand
Manuia le Tausaga Fou to all of our families across the nations eastern corner of the continents to the equator of scattered islands on the west. We all started our New Year in different time zones, yet we all thought about each other at the same time. This is our 5th Issue of our Monthly Family e-Newsletters and we have received a warm response of gratification and participation with our social networking and communication with loved ones near and far. On behalf on the editors, publicists, and authors, we extend our utmost appreciation in vocally, silently, and prayerfully extending your support to keeping our family eternal. There has not been one thought or day that passes that I ponder on each you and your families. It has truly rubbed on to me the habits and rituals of Our Mama always wanting and needing with assurance to make sure and know we are all right. I believe WE ALL, as her children, possess this treasure and gift, because we came from her. As a facebook member and user, I see our family gather together in celebrations in different parts of the world. It gives me confirmation that the next generation will follow in our footsteps of FAMILY UNITY and striving for an Eternal Family. This New Year as we make a fresh and clean start in our personal lives, I challenge you and ask you to make one connection to a family member in another part of the world (monthly). Get acquainted with them or just share your love for them. Our younger generation who do not know most of our family, now is the time to KNOW who you are and WHERE you come from. We have Family everywhere from Florida, Utah, California, Hawai'i, New Zealand, American Samoa, Australia, and Samoa.By doing this, we are able to honor Our Mama's name... E pe le afi ae le pe le aiga. A fire will diminish, but FAMILIES are Forever.

Our Mama has raised our fathers and mothers to never depart on the ways of the Lord and traditions of a Samoan. With Papa by her side in Spirit, they pray for us all by name to bless us and our lives with happiness. This year in March and April we will be celebrating her 80th Birthday in Samoa! Everyone will be flying in for the Weeks of Preparation and Festivities. I have set-up a Glogster to help you all prepare with reasons and diligence for this Memorable Event. As you all may know, Mama has been suffering with Mild Heart Failure with water in her lungs, she is occasionally being fed with an ivy of fluids to flush the water out and help nutrients flow throughout her blood stream. Therefore, calling all UTA'ILEUO Aiga of Sagauga Fitiao Fa'ananafu and Epeleafiaelepeleaiga, THIS IS THE TIME YOU NEED TO SEE MAMA! Everything is on God's Time, so he has led us to this my loves. See you there!

The sun will rise in our homeland of Samoa on January 11, 2012 and with that sunrise will be a mark of a new leader. Our Son, Father, Nephew, Uncle, Papa Bruce Tolu Uta'ileuo will be given the title of FEAGAIMALI'I. This title was held by our Uncle Feagai (Suipi) who has passed on and passed on to Aunty Olive who now will be passing it on to Uncle Tolu. I humbly thank those who are physically there with our dear Mama to witness this great extraordinary event. I know that those of us who are not there are there in prayers, and in spirits to support our AIGA. Uncle... We as your AIGA pray that the Saufa'i will be filled with blessings as we here on earth and those who have passed come together for this event. We send our love, prayers and blessings to you.
"Conveyance of a chiefly title is another noteworthy cultural event in Samoa. Invitation to attend a chief investiture ceremony or saufa'i is a signal honor, one rarely granted to foreigners. Conveyance of a chiefly title is far more than an honorific. Individuals in the group immediately adopt the chief's title as their own first name. All people in the village, other than the immediate family, refer to the new chief by the new title. Furthermore, in traditional Samoan culture all the dependents of the new chief use the chief's title as their new last name."

MANUIA LE KERISIMASI

Thank you to the Lily, Zane, Elton, and Zeimydarling for this picture

Christmas is the time of the year when the whole family sits togehter talking, laughing and simply happy. Feeling this way more than once a year is possible!!

As we are oceans away all we can seem to do is wish that we were together this Holiday Season.  We all find it so hard to smile when we know our hearts long to be together as an entire family, but what makes us smile?  The eyes of our children our next generation smile and their laughter warms our heart and gives us hope that we will be together once again.  Our newsletter gives us beautiful insights of what we are up to and keeps us a little closer!

HOLIDAY RECIPES

LEMON SQUARES

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  •
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 lemons, juiced

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a medium bowl, blend together softened butter, 2 cups flour and 1/2 cup sugar. Press into the bottom of an ungreased 9x13 inch pan.
  3. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes in the preheated oven, or until firm and golden. In another bowl, whisk together the remaining 1 1/2 cups sugar and 1/4 cup flour. Whisk in the eggs and lemon juice. Pour over the baked crust.
  4. Bake for an additional 20 minutes in the preheated oven. The bars will firm up as they cool. For a festive tray, make another pan using limes instead of lemons and adding a drop of green food coloring to give a very pale green. After both pans have cooled, cut into uniform 2 inch squares and arrange in a checker board fashion.

COUNTDOWN

Hey everyone if you all look on the right of our blog you will see a countdown that I've created to give us a perspective of where we are at.  It's set on Samoa time for April 2, 2012.  So the big question is what do you all have left to do?

*Passports??
*Money for your fare??
*Money to put in as a family for cars and food???

Whatever we all have left, I'm glad to know that we are all striving for the goal to be reunited together as an AIGA for Mama's birthday.

As we all journey towards our goal, let us PRAY together, have FAITH together and know that through our FATHER IN HEAVEN we will accomplish what our heart sets to do.  May we all work towards our goal as an AIGA so we can DANCE, SING, and SMILE with our Mama.

JINGLE NEWS

Our sister Zeimydarling on December 5, 2011 has returned back to Samoa to take care of our Aunty Ellen who is sick.  She left her heart in San Diego as she departed with Zane, but knew that they would be reunited real soon.  As tears ran down her face on December 5th she uttered the words, "I promise I will go to Samoa and I will begin working on our big reunion.  I will get the kids together in American Samoa and we will prepare for all your arrivals."  With heavy hearts and tears in our eyes we said, "Aloha Oe!" to our sister and say, "UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN!" We are all praying for you Aunty Ellen.

Tugase who is the oldest son of Tracy Uta'i has just got done taking his HSTA test.  He is currently in the 4th grade at Ahuimanu Elementary school.  The test results are in and Tugase had the 2nd highest score in the ENTIRE fourth grade.  We are so proud of you Tugase and encourage you to continue to strive in your education.  Thank you Tracy for raising awesome boys.

     PFOOTBALL FRENZYP
Heart. Strength. Focus. Teamwork. Respect. These are only a few of the characteristics necessary to be a thriving athlete. Heroes of this depiction? The Manu Samoa. Although they weren’t as victorious as we would have wanted them to be in the Rugby World Cup this year, their hard work and image off the field surely demonstrated what it takes to be a valued and admired competitor.

The Manu Samoa left their distinctive mark in the RWC and our very own big-timers are doing the same. Maroon & White and Blue & Gold are stamping the gridiron with persistence, vigilance, and defying aggression. We have and are following TJ Uta’i for Junior Varsity Football (Governors), Farrington High and Numa Viliamu for Varsity Football (Marauders), Waipahu High as they strike fear in their local Hawai’i opponents. The JV Governors have chased the trophy all the way to the finals, an expedition lasting 9 excruciating games now resulting in a last fight-to-the-finish drop happening today.

It’s an all out war for the champ title as TJ and his teammates try to exercise some governor authority over the Waianae Seariders. This championship game is stocking up and we’re dressing to the 10s in our supportive gear for our boys. Our football frenzy is coming to a successful end. Like the Manu, we know our boys are top-notch participants. Keep on playing the way you are – with heart, strength, focus, and respect. We want to wish the Govs the best of luck and to both our football superstars Numa and TJ and The Manu Samoa a job very well done!

         keep our momentum going...
Last month, family members in the 808 state held a barbeque fundraiser to jump start our collective efforts in reaching our goal – Mama’s 80th in Apia. We’ve already drafted out our expenses, incomes and extras. We’re regulating our finances on a constant basis and doing the necessary cuts to survive. We’re sacrificing watching the latest movie, eating out with friends, drinking water, even taking unnecessary trips somewhere nearby so we can save on gas. We’re doing the most. And saving for a trip 5 months from now is a little hard to do on top of all of that. Needless to say, we need all the help we can get.

With the recession in the American economy devastating the airline industry as it is, the price tag on taking to the friendly skies has become one we hardly can afford. But there is always a light and one of the more beautiful things about this family is the willingness to not only have hope and drive but the diligence to maintain it! Even on the gloomy days, we embrace the optimism. Divide and conquer! We can do this together no matter how far apart we are! Here are some researched tips on how we can individually further our cause.

    1) Thirty-day Rule – if you find that you “need” more and more purchases everyday – write it down and after thirty days, ask yourself if you still need those items.

    2) Apply the Pareto Theory – we use 20% of the stuff we have 80% of the time. Save a bunch by weeding out what we don’t need or use!

    3) Maintain your urge to spend by keeping CLOSE tabs on your spending. The realization that you’ve gone overboard is an eager eye-opener.
    4) Try this – put $12 away per weekday. You’ll have $1400 by April. Remember - you’re never too broke to save money!

    ““halloween SWEEts““
This Halloween there were more treats than tricks! Fun and festivities filled the foggy and eerie nights! Here’s some spooktabulous evidence:
